Clear speech is key to confidence, connection, and being understood. At Accomplish Speech Pathology, we help children and adults who experience difficulties with speech sounds. Whether the issue is mild or more complex, our support is tailored to help each individual speak clearly and confidently in everyday life.We believe that every voice deserves to be heard and understood.
What Are Speech Clarity and Articulation Difficulties?
Speech clarity refers to how easily someone’s spoken words can be understood by others. Articulation refers to how speech sounds are physically produced using the lips, tongue, teeth, and airflow. A person with an articulation or phonological difficulty may:
- Substitute one sound for another
- Omit sounds in words
- Distort sounds
- Speak with a “slur”
- Speak with a speech pattern that is hard for others to understand
- Be understood by close family but not by others outside the home or school
- Struggle with self-confidence or become frustrated when communication breaks down
